My concerns and why I’m running.
I think the best ideas come from listening and leaders should always be listening to the community. My ideas are just a starting point. I welcome your thoughts on how to improve Clinton for you and others.
Support businesses affected by COVID-19
Business owners have been hit hard. I’d like to work with the Community and Economic Development Office to continue to find creative ways to support our local businesses and help Clinton rebound quickly.
With many vacant storefronts and buildings, we need to attract new businesses to grow and expand our tax base. Our downtown’s new look and improvements are the envy of many communities. Let’s make sure we capitalize on this opportunity because foot traffic brings people and people bring in dollars.
Maintain strong town services — from schools to public safety
We face uncertain times. We’ll receive Federal and State support for mitigating the impact of the pandemic. Still, we need to ensure long-range financial stability and responsible planning for the town to safeguard our essential services.
Transparency and accessibility
Explore how to make the town website a more valuable resource and a hub of information for citizens looking for board minutes, meeting and event info, and other specifics related to town government and services.
Quality of life and appearance
This ranges from continuing to invest in our roadways to cleaning up trash to finding more ways to become a sustainable community. Funding and efforts may need to go to more immediate needs due to pandemic, but I also believe in looking toward the future, too.
The Select Board should reflect the community demographic
I don’t think you should vote for me because I’m a woman. I think you should vote for me because I’m qualified to do this job. BUT I do think that local government should reflect the people it serves. Clinton has only had 2 women Select Board members in the town’s history.
Let me know what you’re most concerned about it. I’d love to know your perspective, too.
